How To Sing Better

No matter how poor you feel your voice is or no matter how out-of-tune you are when singing, you can learn how to sing better. As the saying goes, "Practice makes you perfect", does not mean you will achieve a perfect voice overnight but you can make great improvements. You can learn some techniques so that you too can sing better.

Many people would love to have a golden voice; and can feel envy when you they someone who can sing nicely with accurate pitch. Singing needs practice every day to keep the vocal chords in shape. The best vocal exercise is the ma-me-mo sound, as if you sing the word from lower pitch up to the highest pitch you can reach. This vocal exercise modulates your voice. If you will do this everyday, I will tell you, in a matter of one month your singing experience will greatly improved.

Singing beautifully is a talent; there are those who can sing naturally with a great voice with very little effort. If you are not one of those lucky singers, at least you can do something to help you sing better. Do not believe that your voice is just what it is and cannot be changed. With proper training and vocal exercise, you too can have a great voice that gets noticed! As you exercise everyday, your vocal chord is pushed gradually and gently so you can reach the right notes with ease.

To begin with, you have to do a warm up. The ma-me-mo sounds we were talking earlier are a good exercise to modulate your voice. It opens up the space on the larynx giving way to the air from the diaphragm and controls the muscle. Like physical exercise, you must do it everyday for a month and twice a week there after. But before you start you have to know first your current voice range. It could be easier using a piano to determine your voice range start from the lowest note you can reach and end from the highest note you can reach. Basically it starts with the middle 'do' or the middle C key.

If this is your first time, it is best to have someone knowledgeable listening you. There are two advantages you can get here; first is you can overcome your comfort zone and second is you will be guided accordingly. Take note of proper posture also. The shoulder should be levelled, chest straight and stomach in and the head should straight looking forward; do not look up nor bow down. This position will let the air pass through the diaphragm and you can sing easily.

Breathing exercise is very important. Do you know the secret of holding the air? It is all in the positioning. Place your palm next to your abdomen and inhale, exhale. As you do, you should feel the chest expanding.

I highly recommend following a good course like Singorama as you have everything laid out in front of you. With some regular effort you can truly learn how to sing better in no time at all.
